Tiny Lake Cabin Remodel

This 85-year-old cabin was thoughtfully transformed from two small, dark structures into a unified year-round comfortable retreat filled with light, charm, and style. Preserving heritage was central to the design: the original buildings remain intact, while new connecting spaces provide insulation, flow, and additional living areas.

Kitchen Vintage Soul, Modern Function

  • 1950s-inspired appliances evoke mid-century comfort
  • Handcrafted mosaic tile adds artistry and texture
  • Quartzite paired with soapstone creates a rich, durable surface mix
  • Hand-blown lighting offers warm, sculptural glow

Heirlooms—including an original ice saw, clamp, and family cracker boxes—anchor the design in history. Carefully selected antiques double as storage, while spice racks and cookware displayed on the walls maximize space and enhance the cozy vibe.

Primary Suite Inspired by the Lake

Positioned to capture peaceful waterside views, the bedroom uses:

  • Birch-bark wallpaper to echo the surrounding forest
  • Subtle loon accents that celebrate local wildlife
  • Native American art serves as a unique focal point

The adjoining bathroom continues the theme of thoughtful reuse. An antique dough bowl expertly retrofitted serves as a sink.
